CBD-Search Information and Comments
Upcoming Email-Address Changes

Over recent months we have kept you informed of changes to the CBD-Search site with regard to your user ID and associated email address.

The point of these changes is to move some of the responsibility of the data on the CBD-Search website back on to the owners of the data; you.

We have spent much time over the last year trying to contact our users who use poorly configured email servers, or who change their email addresses. Our aim has been to keep the listings on CBD-Search current and uptodate.

Apart from the usual problems of people changing their email addresses, ISP's changing email servers and applying poor configurations, or bad anti-SPAM configurations, we also notice many occasions where people create an email address to make a submission to our site, and then destroy that email address shortly after.

All of these email problems cause us headaches when changes are made to websites listed at CBD-Search and we try and contact the owners/submitters of that site.

A few months ago we made a change stating that it is now mandatory to have a current and contactable email address listed with us to be able to make use of our services, and we now include a list of recently sent emails in the 'User Services' section of the CBD-Search website, listing the error messages associated with any failed emails.

It is now the responsibility of our users to make sure that they have a valid, working email address associated with their account. To do so, login at CBD-Search and then click on 'User Details'.

Within the next few weeks another change will be made to the CBD-Search website stating that if we have a number of consecutive failures while sending emails, the user account (and associated resources/websites) will be automatically deleted. This will particularly affect those who create an email account specifically (and only) for the purpose of making a submission to CBD-Search.

The majority of our users will not be affected by these changes, as it is only a small percent of our users who have made more work for us due to the problems mentioned above. Although it is such a small percentage of the total, this change will result in quite a number of existing customers and related resources being removed from our site.

We have previously mentioned that all users with resources included on our site are now required to receive our monthly newsletter. We will also soon send every user an email every 6 months requiring you to login to the CBD-Search website to verify the details of your listings.

If you have received our latest newsletter then this change does not currently affect you at all, but if you ever notice that you are no longer receiving any CBD-Search emails which you would normally expect, it is your responsibility to login to the site and check why CBD-Search emails have not been reaching you, and to fix the problem by entering a valid email address or contacting your ISP. If you fail to do so, and we continue to be unable to contact you, your account will be automatically removed.
