New Email Procedure In Place

Last month, we told you about our new changes regarding the sending of emails and our monthly newsletter from CBD-Search.

The new changes mean that all current users will now be sent our monthly newsletter, and unused accounts will be automatically removed.

The main change follows similar changes on many other websites. Now, instead of it being our responsibility to make sure that our emails arrive at your mail box, it is now your responsibility. A number of consecutive failed emails will now result in all your resources and services, as well as your user account at CBD-Search being deleted.

To help you, we have created a table on your 'User Details' page, when you log into CBD-Search, which lists recently sent emails and any failure notifications from your email server. If you do not receive an expected email, it is your responsibility to obtain the error message and get your ISP to correct the problem.

This will, of course, only affect those whose emails are hosted at badly configured email servers.

We have spent the last few months contacting the small number (approx 2% or 150) of our users whose email addresses regularly return errors. This is because we want to notify everyone of this change of policy, and give them a chance to keep their current listings at CBD-Search. This has been quite a time consuming task, especially finding email hosts to send contact emails from that will reach these particular email addresses.

Many people have responded well, either by fixing their email setup, contacting their ISP, or giving us a valid email address. But some responses have been quite humorous - many people are obviously completely oblivious that they are not receiving many of their legitimate emails - many noting that they receive a lot of SPAM, so proving that their legitimate emails are arriving :)

Within the next few months, I will implement the admin procedure which will automatically delete users whose email address have regularly had delivery failure errors, so to remain listed with us, please do check your 'User Details' page for any delivery errors.

In fact, this email notification table will be a good tool for you to check that your requested emails, sent via sites, are getting to you.
