CBD-Search Go Slow

Just wanted to apologise again for how exceedingly slow CBD-Search has run lately, in terms of page load times, email responses and processing of submissions/updates.

We are currently in the process of moving to a new web host, and once we have settled down and worked through any unexpected teething issues, we hope that we will be back up to our usual, under-staffed, speed. :)

Thank you once again for your patience.

Website Relocation

Over the next month, CBD-Search may suffer some glitches and downtime as we prepare for and action the task of moving the site to a new host.

This has been brought about by our current hosting company suddenly, and without warning, making a statement that they will be dropping the Postgres database system within 30 days. CBD-Search makes use of Postgres databases and we feel that the huge amount of time and effort that would be required to develop and test our site using an alternative, inferior product, does not compare with the effort of moving our business elsewhere.

Our relationship with our current hosting provider has been rather strained over recent years, with many issues and lengthy problems with their services, which has made this decision much easier. Having been with this particular company since 1999, we have seen it slowly deteriorate in many ways. Having been previously listed in many 'Top 10' reviews, most people I come across who knows of this company recommend everyone to avoid their services.

It is still with great sadness that we leave this company, having stuck by them, hoping and praying that we would see a return of the great service once offered. But we now hope and pray that our new choice will offer a successful relationship and a much improved service for you, our customers.

Again, please forgive us for any problems we may experience over the next few months.

Site Development Update

As you may or may not know, CBD-Search is currently developed and managed solely by myself, Hayden Andrews.

Although CBD-Search has continued to be quite a successful site, its slowly increasing income still only just covers its own administrative costs, paying me nothing for my services. I hope and pray that one day this will change, especially as my wife and I continue to serve God in Thailand and continue to trust in him.

Activities in Thailand have meant that less time has been put into CBD-Search than in previous years, and with my recent commitment to increase the amount of time I spend learning Thai over the next few months, development will nearly cease during this time. We also hope to move out of Bangkok this year, to a more rural area, and will be spending some time preparing for this.

We have hopes and dreams for CBD-Search, including that through God's ever increasing blessing, that my internet work may help support us financially as we move away from the Central Business District of Thailand and further away from easily accessible Internet and job opportunities. We also hope that it may earn enough that we can once again have someone else work on the project to see it's completion.

In the meantime, this 99% automated site will continue to manage itself, but unfortunately, personal contact may get worse and more delayed for a time.

Thankyou again for all your support and encouragement, both of CBD-Search and our personal activities here in Thailand.

Recent SPAM emails

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to those of you who have received either of the two SPAM emails that have been sent from our site recently.

As always, we remain committed to standing against SPAM, while also standing against the unethical behaviour, in the name of anti-SPAM of many organisations.

Unfortunately, because of the recent holidays, it took us a lot longer to realise and deal with the recent misuse of our site, and again, we apologise for this.

As you are aware, we have been recently putting in new procedures with regard to emails and contact from CBD-Search. This has been to help manage and maintain the data integrity of the site, and also to protect our users from SPAM, while also allowing them to be contactable via our site.

Sending SPAM via CBD-Search is currently a frustrating process, the SPAMMER having to create a legitimate email address, sign-up with us, agree with our policies and rules, and await email confirmation. They then must search laboriously for those of our advertisers who are contactable via our site.

We do have plans to further irritate those trying to use our site for SPAM, while still allowing legitimate communication to pass through, but you must bare with us as our development will be slowing down for the next few months.

In the meantime, if you have considered the recent SPAM emails sent via CBD-Search to be unacceptable, you can easily update your resource's listing at CBD-Search and mark yourself as non-contactable by email. If you do this, other users of CBD-Search will no longer be able to contact you via email, but will have to visit your website for contact details.

Please remember, if you received either of the two recent SPAM messages, as we noted, your email address remains secure and unavailable to the SPAMMER, unless you reply directly to the SPAM email.
